Quick Update
Just a quick update for y’all. The blog was bothering me so I found a way to integrate it via a new site management tool called Hugo. Massive props as always to Chris Titus Tech who finds awesome tools like this. For the most part, this is much easier to use, and with a few more tweaks it’ll be right inside my normal workflow. This way, I can write my updates in Obsidian in markdown as I want, incorporating pictures, etc, and then be able to quickly publish to the blog.
Second, I’ve had a couple wild ideas to address a couple age-old problems this project has faced. A ton of Kanji characters are not actually encoded into the game for the dialogue, but are instead stored as 32 byte font characters and injected on the fly. So there’s no way to point to a specific encoding for those characters, and to make matters worse, the low resolution made OCR quite unreliable. Goblin had a huge push to identify all of them, but there are a lot of errors because the resolution is just bad.
So I had a wild idea. Chatgpt, or other models, can be trained to parse things. Why not fully extract the script from the screenplay book, and feed it into an LLM’s memory, and have it match characters for me?
I’ll be pursuing this a bit more moving forward, but in the meantime, enjoy the new blog format. It will also allow me to publicize my analysis docs in a better format. The only downside I’ve noticed is that video performance is poor via the site hosting, so I’ll be posting more video demos to Youtube, maybe with a tad bit more editing over time.
